Set Design and Construction

In March 2017, my high school (Apex Friendship) produced Seussical the Musical as our spring production. Another class mate and I created

Horton’s tree, as well as helping making platforms for the main set. Horton’s Tree was designed by my classmate Cameron, and we built it by building a platform and ladder on a moving platform. We then wrapped one of the legs in chicken wire and plaster and painted it to look like a tree, but in the colorful theme of Seussical. We added the yellow fabric to look like leaves and made a nest out of tulle and feathers. Finally we created the grass out of plywood and dry brush painted it. We added the green ‘vines’ in the back to mask the actors who moved the platform slightly, while keeping with the forest theme.

Oh, the thinks you can think when you think about Seuss!
